What you need to know about your nbn® fibre upgrade

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

In the lead-up to your installation day, NBN Co may send you up to 4 text messages (provided we have your mobile number) to:

  • Confirm your appointment
  • Help you prepare for your installation day
  • Let you know when the technician is on their way

I’m renting my property; do I need landlord approval?

Yes. Please obtain permission from your landlord before your appointment fibre installations may involve drilling and, in some cases, minor digging works.

Can I change my appointment day?

Yes. If your appointment date or time doesn’t work, please contact our Customer Success team on (Direct Success Line) and we'll arrange an alternative appointment for you.

YOUR APPOINTMENT DAY

An NBN Cotechnician will come to your property to complete your upgrade.

Please note:

  • Someone aged 18 years or older must be present for the entire appointment.
  • They will need to approve the work and sign off on equipment placement.
  • Pets should be secured to ensure safe access for the technician.

How long will the appointment take?

Fibre installation appointments typically take 2-4 hours.

More complex installations may take longer anda follow-up appointment may be required to complete the installation. If this happens, you'll be able to continue using your existing service until your fibre nbn® service is activated.

What equipment will be installed?

Outside your home - An nbn® utility box, usually located near existing telecommunications or power infrastructure.

Inside your home - An nbn® connection box, which connects your home to the fibre network and is what your router will plug into.

Can I choose where the equipment is installed?

No equipment will be installed without your approval, however, as your technician will discuss with you, equipment is required to be installed in certain locations in line with NBN Co’s installation guidelines. If your preferred location falls outside NBN Co's standard installation guidelines, you may need additional internal cabling or an Ethernet connection installed at your own cost.

Will my internet or power be interrupted?

For safety reasons, the technician may require your power and/or internet to be turned off for approximately 30-60 minutes.

AFTER INSTALLATION

Once installation is complete, we'll activate your new fibre nbn® service and let you know as soon as it's ready to use.

If I have an existing nbn® service with More when will this be disconnected?

2 days after your fibre nbn® service has been activated, we'll disconnect your old connection.

Will I need to do anything post-activation?

Your Wi-Fi router may require a reboot or reset to connect successfully to the new fibre service. If you experience any issues, our Technical Support Team is available 24/7 to assist you.
